Buyer Beware
They are a poorly managed company. Ignore wrong doings and do not serve customers very well. Especially when they fouled up and owe you money. They seem to be running a "bait n switch" operation when it comes to big ticket items. I. e. Guitar sales. It appears they have business model based upon "for every customer we lose, we get 5 new ones, so why bother with customer complaints." They sold company to Guitar Center which is risky when buying used guitars as sellers on Guitar Center push defective prouducts at high prices which validates the business model suggested.

Liars. Scammers. WORST customer service.
They say items ship same day or next. I waited a week for them to finally ship. Every time I contacted customer support they didn't know ANYTHING about what was going on and the best they could do was say "wait and see". When the item finally did ship, I received an open box item with no warning. The order I placed was for a brand NEW synth, not an opened/returned/used one. They refused any sort of credit for getting an open box model. Quite literally the worst service in the music industry. Go to Sweetwater. Hell, go ANYWHERE else. Save yourself the frustrations. Thank me later.

Musician's Friend are my Friends again.
After two years since my situation happened with Musican's Friend they actually called me three weeks ago. At first I was pissed off that they even called me because I never got my $1,744.53 back for the guitar I try to purchase from them. But they listened to me for at least 15 minutes on the phone venting my frustration against them; cursing and all, surprised they didn't hang up on me. When I was done venting, the employee of the company told me she would relate the venting message to her boss and that I would receive an email soon. I told her I'm not going to hold my breath over it, but thanks for letting me at least vent and I told her God bless her for listening. But that day when I got home from work to my amazement I did receive an email from Musicain's Friend telling me my money was and has aways been waiting in their account as credit in my name. That's when I realized it was my own bank who betrayed from the start by telling me they did an investigation for months but could not get my money back from Musician's Friend, while arrogantly telling me to settle with the music store. The fact is that my own bank lied to me, they never did anything to help me because if they did they would have known Musican's Friend had an account open for me with my money that I could use anytime I wanted. That's why I closed every account I had with that bank two years ago, I had a feeling they were at fault, but I couldn't prove it. Today I received the $1,744.53 by check from the bank I closed my accounts two years ago, it's in their name paid to me. And to prove that they were at fault from the start by lying to me, not one word or a letter apologizing for what happened, just the check. I should have known it was the f--king bank, because I have bought so many things before from this great music store and this was the first time we had an issue. Thank you Musician's Friend, you really are my friends because you could have just kept the money and not said anything and I would have never known, but you pulled through, I love you guys. F--k that piece of sh-t bank, I hope it burns in Hell along side of Satan! This company is a scam company, right now I'm in the middle of filing a federal complaint against them for going into my bank account without my approval. This company is NO friend of musicians! I wouldn't give this company one star if I had a choice, but one star is the lowest rating they have.

Wow...that was bad
Wow! I just called to ask a couple of questions about a bass and possibly place an order.
Absolutely worst Customer Service I've ever encountered from a music store. Truly, the worst ever!
I'm both a Guitar Center and a Sweetwater customer; I thought I might add Musician's Friend. Nope. Never.... Wow. Underwhelmed is an understatement.
Can begin to imagine what conversation would be like if I had a problem with a purchase.
Stay clear folks. ;)

Update on my Non Exiting Rewads points.
After speaking to numerous agents, I was told I have already used my points, which is impossible checking the time frame carefully, another answered we made a mistake and your points were never transfered over.We will reach out to our loyalty team(Oxi Morons)and take care of it. Well guess what, they are still missing in action! These Morons have an IQ of a first grader. They make a great daily double(M/F & Guitar Center) You can not embarass these people. Once again, STAY CLEAR!It is well past my reward points due date and once again I have not received them. This is not the first time this has happened, and it does not suprised me. This is a failing company that continues to nose dive with selling you used equipment or dealing with the above issue. When contacted they fail to call back, or give you a bs story answer on your computer. Stay clear!

Twice backordered
20 years of mediocre service finally comes to an end. For strings of all things. I play 5 nights a week for 20 years in Key West and change for every show. I use musicians gear because I only need 4 hours out of them. I order by the 2 dozen once a month. Second to last order was backordered then cancelled, so I ordered again and this time they were on sale. Backordered again. I running short now so I ask to match that price point with any other brand they have. Nope. Just strings dot com has been helpful before in a similar situation so my business will be with them from now on. Unbelievable that they couldn't accommodate a dozen packs of strings for a 20 year thousands of dollars customer.

Not new merchandise, used junk
Terrible experience trying to buy a new Fender Strat and Marshall amp. Long story short, I tried buying a "new and ready to ship" guitar 3 separate times and all 3 were used display models from Guitar Center stores that were damaged and missing parts. The amp was also a used floor model from the store with cosmetic damages. The sales reps were really nice, apologized and promised each time that the next item would be a new one. They also give you their direct contact info but it's impossible to actually reach them directly (they don't respond to emails, no call backs, etc). I had to charge my credit card for each item since they can't just exchange it and took weeks for each charge to get refunded. There's also no way to speak to anyone in management or complain if something goes wrong. What a terrible company. Had these bad online experiences with both Guitar Center and Musicians Friend (same company). They just try and unload all their used junk from the Guitar Center stores. Shop somewhere else!

Stay as far away as possible from…
Stay as far away as possible from musicians friend. They will sell you a defective instrument and refuse to take it back and refund your money. They are professional thieves.

Q:
Why are there so many negative scores and experiences on this company? I was going to buy a guitar and amp but just typing in the name brings up horro
A:
Because they dont care at all. The people on the phone are nice IF you can get a hold of them. Id go to AMS or zz sounds instead or sweetwater

A:
Because their only mature process is taking your money. Good luck getting the product in any reasonable time. And if you need to make a return, your purchase may not be eligible or you may need to pay a restocking fee. They are just acting like a bunch of lazy people in a basement - no indication that they are a real company with any plans to stay in business.

All I can say is do your own due diligence and research but imho there are now better alternatives such as AMS or Sweetwater.

Hi, I want to buy a piano, I haven't tried this website before, I want to be sure before ordering that piano.
A:
One of the worst places to do business. I recommend Sweetwater, Zzounds, or Sam Ash.

A full size piano or a keyboard? They might be the place to go to if youre looking for something expensive but in general they suck as a company. If you can find the same piano on AMS, sweetwater, or zzsounds i would get it there instead, if its a big item only MF has youll probably be fine if you have patience and nothing goes wrong

I have had too many bad experiences with MF to recommend them. I've had better experiences with Sweetwater.com if you want to buy online.
